Filip Surmont Appointed Chief Medical Officer of HighTide Therapeutics

In March 2026, Dr. Filip Surmont, founder of Element Eleven, has been appointed Chief Medical Officer of HighTide Therapeutics, a global biopharmaceutical company advancing innovative therapies for cardiovascular-kidney-metabolic (CKM) diseases.

In this role, Filip will lead the company’s global medical strategy, clinical development, and medical affairs, supporting the continued advancement of HighTide’s pipeline addressing major unmet needs in chronic metabolic disease.

Filip brings more than three decades of experience across clinical practice and the pharmaceutical industry, including senior leadership positions at Wyeth, Pfizer, and AstraZeneca. Throughout his career, he has helped shape global medical strategy in cardiovascular, renal, and metabolic medicine, contributing to major therapeutic and guideline-level advances impacting millions of patients worldwide.

Alongside this appointment, Filip continues to lead Element Eleven, where he advises life-science organisations on medical strategy, global medical affairs, and real-world evidence.

Filip Surmont’s work with Element Eleven contributed to a Late-Breaking Clinical Trial presented at the European Society of Cardiology Heart Failure Congress 2025, showcasing an AI-enabled ECG algorithm for detecting heart failure across nearly 6,000 adults in Kenya — advancing accessible, data-driven healthcare innovation in low-resource settings.
